10 Awful Horror Movies That Need To Be Remade
1. The Dunwich Horror
It is somewhat shocking how few adaptations there are of the works of H.P. Lovecraft, especially since he created one of the greatest (and freakiest) mythos in storytelling history. Even Stephen King blows him out of the water when it comes to cinema. Still, there have been some attempts - with "attempt" being the optimum word there.
This movie was released in 1970 and acted as a loose adaptation of the short story of the same name. It follows the misadventures of Wilbur Whateley, a peculiar, seemingly non-human man, as he gets his hands on the Nercronomicon and sets about a ritual.
If there's one phrase to describe this movie, it's boring as all hell! The film is a tiresome, drawn out and utterly non-scary experience that's lacking all the bombastic horror of the author it's adapting. That's why it's incredibly important that this movie receive a remake, so as to finally give the story of Wilbur Whateley a chance to shine.
A remake of this movie should be tense, gross, full of body horror and dripping in atmosphere. There are plenty of people who could make it work, with Richard Stanley having found success with a previous Lovecraft adaptation (The Colour Out of Space) and Guillermo del Toro always being a shoo-in for a good old-fashioned Lovecraft movie.
