10 Awful Horror Movies That Need To Be Remade
3. Slender Man
Horror will always find a way to adapt and grow, which is why it has latched onto the internet in such a compelling way. Creepypastas and urban legends have become integral to internet horror, but very few have soared to the same heights of popularity as the terrifying Slender Man.
Slender Man is a creation from a user named Victor Sludge on the forum Something Awful. The pale-skinned, no-faced, tall, slender monster became a smash hit, so much so that even Conan O'Brien played his video game (Slender Man: The Eight Pages) on his show. Thus, it's no surprise that Hollywood came a knocking.
People were tentatively excited for this flick, as it boasted a great trailer and seeing the internet legend on the big screen was such a tantalising prospect. There was hope it could usher in a whole new wave of creepypasta movies. Then, it came out, and dear god, it sucked.
The acting was terrible, the scares were weak, the visuals were lacklustre, and there were plenty more faults. But, the character still deserves big screen treatment, and under the right director (such as Adam Wingard or James Wan), it could be a creepy thrill ride.
