10 Awful Horror Movies That Need To Be Remade

4. The Lawnmower Man

Wishmaster movie
New Line Cinema

There was once a time when The Lawnmower Man's visual effects were considered groundbreaking, but it is not this day. Like the previously mentioned Shocker, this movie could benefit from some modern technology, both in story and presentation.

This 1992 flick is based on the Stephen King short of the same name, although it deviated so far from the original story that King sued and had his name removed from the project. It follows as a scientist uses experimental virtual reality technology to increase the intelligence of a gardener with learning difficulties. However, things get messy after this test subject gains more power and tries to become a digital god.

The concept of someone fusing their body with technology and turning into a digital being could be compelling in the modern age. This film could explore what happens when a madman high on power enters the internet, using smartphones, laptops and every other kind of device to do whatever they want.

Additionally, those VFX really do need an upgrade. Watching the movie nowadays is more likely to leave you giggling than gasping. However, there's no doubt that a modern update could make these dated visuals spectacular.
