10 Awful Looking Upcoming Movies That Will Make Serious $$$

The bottom line doesn't care about good taste, and neither does Hollywood.

Just because a movie looks awful, or just because it is awful doesn't mean it can't, or won't, make a fistful of dollars - and then some. That is simply not how the cash cow of modern cinema is set up to work.

The annals of Hollywood do not tell a meritocratic story of artistic triumph, but instead chart a slugfest to the finish line for who can drag in the most dosh by any means possible.

The mainstream moviegoer likes nothing more than something they know, and with a never-ending onslaught of sequels, requels, reboots, spin-offs, biopics and adaptations, there is always something looming on the horizon. Here come 10 movies that, no matter how awful they look, are all but guaranteed to make some serious $$$.

10. A Complete Unknown

Yet another dewy-eyed, sepia-toned feature mythologising Bob Dylan is coming down the tracks in the form of A Complete Unknown, and any notion of treating its subject or setting to a new or innovative take was lost when Timothee Chalamet signed on to the project. The trailer looks like any other mid-century period piece, and the stylistic elements equally as familiar, lacking the flair of Elvis or the dynamic approach of Rocket Man.

Attaching such an big name as Chalamet to the film is a huge mistake for a biopic of a similarly high-profile figure, as it's nigh-impossible not to see Willy Wonka shining through from beneath the beat threads and perm.

And that's before mentioning that it's been done before, with Todd Haynes' I'm Not There coming up trumps as the definitive Dylan biopic, utilising an array of talented actors to portray aspects of the singer in a filmic collage of the changin' times and places the artists formerly known as Robert Allen Zimmerman lived through.

Nevertheless, audiences love Timothee Chalamet, they love Bob Dylan, and they generally flock like seagulls to biopics about famous singers - just look at the numbers Elvis, Rocket Man and Bohemian Rhapsody did.
