10 Awful Movies Sons Of Anarchy Actors Want Us To Forget
3. Katey Segal – Dirty Dancing (2017)
1987’s Dirty Dancing is certainly not everybody’s cup of tea, but its iconic sequences, soundtrack and legacy would surely lead to scorn being heaped upon this writers by readers if it were lumped in with any of the other crimes against cinema featured on this list.
Before the pitchforks come out, it should be stressed that this is not the iteration of Dirty Dancing in which Katey Segal, the portrayer of Jax’s mother Gemma Teller-Morrow on Sons Of Anarchy and wife of creator Kurt Sutter, appeared.
That iteration was in fact a television movie remake released for the thirtieth anniversary of the original in 2017. Forgetting that it had already been remade/reimagined once before (in the form of 2004’s Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights), ABC recruited known and unknown names alike for the roles made famous by Jennifer Grey, Patrick Swayze and company, with Katey Segal taking on the role of Vivian Pressman, played in the film by noted dance choreographer Miranda Garrison.
Television movies have always had bad reputations for quality, justified by their limited budgets and rushed turnarounds in comparison to their cinematic counterparts. Dirty Dancing became one of many in a long line to fall completely flat, barely making an impact on the ratings as it became a forgotten one-and-done affair.
