10 Awful Teen Comedies That Are Actually Hilarious

7. Let It Snow

What A Girl Wants
Netflix

This 2019 Netlfix original attempted to be the American teen answer to Love Actually. Except it was devoid of all of the charm and Christmas warmth Love Actually brought to the table. It all revolves around the interweaving love lives of young adults in a typical small American town, and is typically cliche as you'd expect this kind of film to be. The one saving grace is the relationship between Shameik Moore's character and Isabela Merced's character.

But then we get to the overplayed best-friend male character desperately in love with his female friend, played by Kiernan Shipka. This character is one of the most self-centred, entitled and downright creepy characters in the genre.

He essentially mopes around while his love interest flirts with a genuinely charming and caring guy. All signs point to the fact that they should be together. But alas, because he feels sorry for himself for a bit he ends up winning the girl, with some dialogue that would even make Tommy Wiseau cringe.

Whilst not the worst or most problematic film in this kind of genre, serving up some genuine heart at certain points, some of the dialogue and character interactions are so painfully awkward that it becomes hard not to gag by the time the film ends.

Marlon Loria hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
