Quirk Books is a publishing house that's renowned for publishing parody novels like Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, as well as William Shakespeare's Star Wars. After the books popularity skyrocketed, it was only a matter of time before Hollywood adapted Quirk's most popular work, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

Based on the European trailer (as well as the title), you can blatantly tell this mashup combines novel-of-manners fiction with modern zombie lore.

But if you watched the US trailer for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, it's obvious the marketing team didn't understand the source material at all.

Instead of poking fun at the ridiculous premise, the international trailer sold the movie like a badass horror, giving no sense of its comedic roots.

Even though the film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies mixes the comedy and horror elements really well, a lot of people hated the movie, simply because it wasn't what they were expecting. Considering the marketing team over Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter made the same mistake with the promotions, you'd think Hollywood would have learned its lesson by now.
