As C-3PO and R2-D2 make their way into Jabba the Hutt's palace on Tatooine in Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, you'll probably just about remember seeing a strange spider-like being crawling across the sand behind the protocol droid.

What you probably didn't realise is that what you were looking at here wasn't simply any old droid or a random alien monster, it was actually a B'omarr monk.

These members of the B'omarr Order were so keen to get the most out of the power of their minds, they actually chose to separate themselves from any and all physical sensations. And how did they go about doing this? Well, by dumping their brains into a nutrient-filled bowl that would then be carried around by these creepy droid walkers.

Their monastery on Tatooine was actually none other than Jabba's palace, with the Hutt taking control of the location and just letting the weird spider monks wander about the place because he loved how gruesome they looked.

What a slug.

They'd also pop up again in the Book of Boba Fett eventually, scurrying around the desert and no doubt sending even more chills up your spine now you know their ridiculous and somewhat disturbing backstory.
