10 Bad Films By Great Directors

7. Francis Ford Coppola - Jack

The Wolf Of Wall Street Leo DiCaprio
Buena Vista

Francis Ford Coppola's run of The Godfather, The Conversation, The Godfather Part II, and Apocalypse Now is the greatest run of films by any American filmmaker ever. They are four masterpieces in row, a feat seldom matched in any art form. Coppola's legacy is secure. Which is probably for the best, because, since then, despite a few interesting efforts (Dracula, Peggy Sue Got Married), Coppola's filmography has been pretty poor.

Poorest of all is this, Jack, a film about a 40 year old man (Robin Williams) trapped inside the body of a ten year old boy, and a film which conjures up the biggest cries of confusion referred to in the introduction to this list.

How? How did the man who gave us the wedding sequence that opens The Godfather end up directing this? Why? Why did the man who gave us Apocalypse Now and its Ride of the Valkyries moment end up in the chair for this? How? Why? How and why did Francis Ford Coppola end up directing one of Robin Williams' very worst man-child performances in a stupid film called Jack?

The answer is unclear, but Jack serves as perhaps the worst film ever made by a great director. It's that bad.
