10 Bad Movies Hollywood Should Remake As Comedies

The idea that Hollywood would attempt to make a serious drama about lap dancing is amusing in itself, but Showgirls is so incredibly hackneyed (to say nothing of camp) that you’d swear screenwriter Joe Eszterhas was sending himself up.

It’s a toss-up which is funniest – the mind blowing dialogue (“first I get you used to the money, then I make you swallow”), the way characters keep referring to Nomi Malone’s “natural talent” even though she dances like a caffeinated moose or the sequence where Nomi receives her “big break” when a colleague (wait for it) breaks her leg.

Throw in a poolside sex scene that the Golden Raspberry Awards called “stripper meets Flipper” and you’ve got a midnight movie begging for ironic reinvention. As long as the filmmakers know they’re making a comedy and they don’t cast Kevin James in the Robert Davi role, we’re all good.
