10 Bad Movies Hollywood Should Remake As Comedies
5. Anaconda
Anaconda
stars Oscar winner Jon Voight, cost $40 million to make and conquered the box
office back in 1997 but don’t be fooled: it’s still the kind of hokey creature
feature you see on SyFy every week, right down to the cheesy digital effects.
In the Amazon on a documentary shoot, Jennifer Lopez and her crew instead find Voight, who despite his sneer and accent of dubious provenance is able to convince them to hunt for the eponymous 40-foot reptile. Fortunately for bad movie lovers, said reptile alternates between a hilariously unconvincing rubber prop and a hilariously unconvincing digital creation for the entire picture.
In a movie with no shortage of show-stopping moments, the pick of the bunch has to be the scene where the anaconda swallows Voight whole, at which point director Luis Llosa treats us to something we never saw in any black and white creature feature – a point-of-view shot from inside the monster’s throat. Regurgitated at Lopez’s feet, Voight still manages to tip her a wink before keeling over.
