9. Margaret White, Creepy Mother Of Carrie White - Carrie
Mommy White, portrayed by the irreplaceable Piper Laurie, was a full blown nutbar in Carrie, a film based on Stephen King's book of the same name. Her performance was so convincing and powerful that she was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe, no small feat when performing in a horror film.
In Carrie, Margaret is an overbearing religious zealot who believes that all things having to do with the human body and sex are sinful. She is degrading and abusive towards her daughter, Carrie, locking her in a closet to pray for forgiveness for pretty minor infractions, like having a life, or breasts, which she refers to as dirty pillows. Carrie is seemingly powerless to overcome her mother's domineering and powerful persona.
This finally culminates the night that Carrie telekinetically burns her classmates alive, after she is the victim of the infamous pig blood practical joke. Upon returning home, Mommy White attacks her daughter with a butchers knife, citing Bible scripture as she tears into Carries spine. Ultimately, Carrie impales her mother using her special powers, and the house burns down around them.
