10 Badass Samuel L. Jackson Movie Quotes
8. The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996)
Shane Black became the highest-paid writer in Hollywood history when his script for this unconventional buddy movie was purchased for $3m. The end result was a densely-plotted yet massively entertaining thriller, but The Long Kiss Goodnight wasn't a hit at the box office. However, it did manage to make Geena Davis a convincing action heroine as well as giving Samuel L Jackson some of the best dialogue of his career. Jackson's shady private eye Mitch Henessey is working for Davis' amnesiac schoolteacher Samantha Caine to help uncover her past, when the two get caught up in a larger conspiracy that yields deadly and explosive results. Yet it is at the beginning of the movie when Jackson gets to deliver his most memorable lines. Barging into a room pretending to be a police officer with a couple of hobos for backup, the actor instantly establishes the character's shady morals and sharp tongue. Part of a longer and more profanity-laced monologue that cannot be printed in good taste, this line in particular became instantly quotable, although The Long Kiss Goodnight is chock-full of classic Samuel L Jackson one-liners in one of his most underrated performances."Everybody knows, when you make an assumption, you make an ass out of you and umption"
