Samuel L Jackson signed on to this picture solely based on the title, and in that respect it delivers. The result is a 70s exploitation movie transposed to the 21st century, anchored by a typically dedicated turn from Jackson. However, the massive amount of online buzz that surrounded the project all the way through production didn't translate to box office success and the movie only took $62m against its $33m budget. It's easy to forget that Snakes on a Plane was an online phenomenon given its disappointing box office run; based on title and star alone the internet was awash with music, merchandise, fan fiction and even parody videos months before the movie had even hit theaters. Of course, the most significant contribution was the inclusion of this instantly-iconic line. After being included in numerous online parodies, the producers saw an opportunity and added the dialogue to the script.
