Ryan Reynolds tends to play Ryan Reynolds in every role and that's exactly what he did here. Hence, he was not, is not and never will be suitable to play Hal Jordan. Deadpool? Yes. Hal Jordan? No. Jordan isn't a comedy character. He is certainly quite often unreliable and lazy in the comic books - which is something that was reflected in Reynolds' interpretation - but the man has absolutely no personality and, therefore, a joker with a big personality and the wit and charisma of Reynolds doesn't fit. This isn't an attack of Reynolds - far from it - it's just that he is too interesting and fun to play the Jordan from the comics properly and, as a result, the portrayal was nothing like what comic fans wanted or expected.
