10 Badly Miscast Actors In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

8. Guy Pearce - Aldrich Killian/The Mandarin (Iron Man 3)

Marvel Studios

Whoever Guy Pearce was supposed to be in the end, there's no doubting the fact that this usually-very-good-in-everything actor ultimately wasn't right for his part in Iron Man 3, despite some very good moments. Fact is, the convoluted, twist-related nature of Shane Black's film meant that - for the most part - Pearce spent his time playing a fairly run of the mill villain named Aldrich Killian.

Okay, fine. By the time the credits had rolled, though, we're all supposed to have outright accepted that Guy Pearce had been playing the Mandarin all along? No way! Because, let's face it: Pearce was fine when he was Aldrich Killian. But trying to tell us that, ultimately, it was Guy Peace who was the "real" Mandarin (and over Ben Kingsley, no less!), well... that's "miscasting" pretty much defined, really.

Pearce has some brilliant bits in the movie, especially those that have him pegged as a nerd in the flashback sequences - he's hammy and entertaining. Even if he were just supposed to be Killian, we could go along with it. But given that he's absolutely nothing like the Mandarin of the comics (at all), it's a severe miscast.
