10 Banned Horror Movies That Shocked The World
3. Nekromantik 2
Now, the first Nekromantik movie was enough to rustle some feathers upon release in 1987 for being a movie that prided itself on celebrating all the grotty facets of necrophilia, so you have to remember that the base level for Nekromantik 2 was already ridiculously high on the 'nope' meter.
Building on the movie that's been outright banned in at least 7 countries and only passed as an 18 as recently as 2014 in the UK, Nekromantik 2 decided to up the ante with even more images of death and sex interwoven in the most gruesome of ways - sparking a far harsher reaction from its country of origin in the process.
German authorities at the time raided cinemas that showed the film and confiscated any prints they could find, deeming owning the movie an offence in its own right. Without an actual trial, censorship officials decided that the film 'glorified violence' and wasn't fit for public consumption, only relenting two years later when Nekromantik was deemed 'art' instead of pure filth and allowed back into circulation.
I mean, I don't remember the Mona Lisa banging any cadavers, but we're here all the same.
