10 Banned Video Nasties That Were Actually Pretty Tame

1. Zombie Creeping Flesh (1981)

zombie creeping 1-600x300 Zombie Creeping Flesh is quite possibly, the crappiest zombie film ever made in the world - ever. It is so poorly directed (by the ultimate Italian hack director - Bruno Mattei - a man who could't direct himself out of a plastic bag) - its set pieces and gore scenes are laughably terrible and thus terribly tame. And as if the above wasn't bad enough, the film has the temerity to both set itself up as some sort of prequel to Romero's Dawn of the Dead and rip off Goblin's soundtrack to Dawn of the Dead. Unbelievable. Zombie Creeping Flesh also seems to consist of footage from other films as well and it takes a very superior and condescending attitude to the Third World - stating that the flesh eating virus was created to curb the population of poorer nations by pitting tribe against tribe. The script is nonsensical and the production looks rushed and incompetent. Mattei inserts footage of luscious greenery to try and convince us we are in an exotic location. It's so bad you could actually laugh - and indeed over the years it has garnered a so bad it's good film reputation. However, as a zombie film connoisseur, I like my films with a little class and I decree that Zombie Creeping Flesh is the lamest, tamest zombie themed Video Nasty. Like this article?
