10 Banned Video Nasties That Were Actually Pretty Tame

4. Cannibal Terror (1981)

Cannibal Holocaust did what it said on the tin. Cannibal Ferox indeed made them die slowly. Cannibal Apocalypse sealed the deal. Cannibal Terror... Promises big doesn't it? Well I have had more terror watching Peppa flipping Pig. For a start, the film exploits all of the cliches of the cannibal genre and adds nothing new. It is actually not just tame - in the sense that nothing happens - it is boring to the point of torturous. Characters stand around with nothing to do or say. The film is atrociously dubbed and it can't even summon up native actors. The actors are clearly European, some with pot bellies, sideburns and moustaches. They spout face paint that could have been done by a five year old. Some of them are actually laughing. The gore effects are hopeless and would barely fool a newborn. I declare this one of the tamest, lamest Cannibal films of all time!

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
