1. The Amityville Horror (1979)

Alleged psychics, as well as author Jay Anson and the house-owning Lutz Family themselves, to this day adamantly maintain their claim of a demonic possession in da house. Yet many orbiting players have long-since admitted to foul play, among them jurist William Webber stating the whole thing was concocted by himself and the Lutz family during a boozy evening in order to cash-in. Webber confessed he wanted to use the hoax to re-open the case of his client, the perpetrator of gruesome murders that did take place in 1974 prior to the Lutzes acquiring the abode.
