4. Salmon Fishing in the Yemen (2011)
Never does the film nor its marketing claim or even hint at it being based on actual events, yet it boasts a metaphysical silliness that can only be found in real life and thus lead audiences to assume -or at least strongly wonder if- someone really did try to undertake the suggested project. Author Paul Torday, who wrote the source novel, stated that the idea came to him in a daydream during an exceptionally boring meeting with an environment agency. Which begs the question: what ideas would he come up with if forced to watch the grass grow?!?
