10 Batman Movie Villains Reimagined For The DCEU
7. Catwoman In The Vein Of Eartha Kitt
From Michelle Pfeiffer’s PVC-clad dominatrix to Anne Hathaway's credible cat burglar, the Batman movies have brought us some fantastic Selina Kyles over the years, and more are surely inevitable.
Batman's dark gravitas works well when offset against Catwoman's edgy sass, so she'd be a great addition to the roster of his next solo outing.
And that isn't out of the question since David Ayer's Gotham City Sirens will introduce the character to the DC Extended Universe, alongside Margot Robbie's demented Harley Quinn and the uncast Poison Ivy.
The DCEU's Catwoman should sit somewhere on the spectrum between Hathaway and Pfeiffer’s take on the anti-heroine, not quite as grounded as the former, but closer to current comic continuity in tone than the latter.
During the 1960s, Eartha Kitt owned the role in the Batman TV series, becoming the first black woman to achieve mainstream television success in the process.
In the interests of keeping things diverse, casting a black actress such as Thandie Newton to deliver an alternative take on the character would be a good move.
As anyone who's seen her in Westworld will tell you, Newton is blessed with the right amount of sass and ass-kickery for the purfect Catwoman.
