Peter Jackson has done an incredible, exhaustive job of ensuring that Lord of the Rings fans have access to as much supplementary and deleted material as possible, but there are some scenes that ultimately didn't even make it into the trilogy's lengthy Extended Editions.

Perhaps the most infamous and intriguing example is a sequence from The Two Towers, where Faramir (David Wenham) dreams of Frodo's (Elijah Wood) future, where the One Ring consumes his soul and transforms him into a Gollum-like (Andy Serkis) creature.

The scene was first revealed on the film's home video release, with a few images and seconds of footage showing off Elijah Wood undergoing the extensive make-up process to resemble Gollum.

The results look pretty fantastic, honestly, and though it may have been one indulgence too many for the theatrical release, it's a shame Jackson never gave fans a fully completed version of the scene.
