6. The Death Eaters Ditch Their Pointy Hats

Fans often point out the Death Eaters' sudden and unexplained design change between Goblet of Fire and Half-Blood Prince. In Goblet of Fire, they're wearing large, pointy hats, which were ditched without rhyme or reason for Half-Blood Prince.

But we can once again turn to costume designer Jany Temime for answers, as the decision to change-up their look was ultimately a practical filmmaking one above all else, because keeping the pointed hats in frame was too difficult:

"The first Death Eaters that I designed for film are very different... I use that Ku [Klux] Klan hat because it started in the camp site. You could just see the top of the points, that was a very frightening image... [The look] was limiting... We designed another and then I got the idea of masks... when we put the mask on then the whole costume was more frightening."

Though the original KKK-inspired design is itself fairly divisive with fans - some seeing it as hamfistedly obvious - others were just baffled to see the Death Eaters of all people suddenly deciding to change their duds.
