10 Best & 10 Worst Horror Movies Of 2015

3. Bone Tomahawk

RT Rating: 88% There really aren't enough cowboy horror movies - and not something garish and modern that doesn't understand the spirit of the genre it's adding to: a real, sun and sand-blasted trip to the haunted Old West. 2015 might well have given us the best the meagre genre has yet offered, thanks to Kurt Russell's other western of the year. Playing Sheriff Franklin Hunt, Russell leads an attack on a tribe of murderous cannibals who have terrorised his town, watching as his vengeful gang are injured or killed off in increasingly grizzly ways. And despite the grimness, it's a lot of fun - positively pulsing with director S Craig Zehler's delight at being able to make it - and perfectly manages to achieve its obvious cult agenda. It's also almost incredible to see a film that cast both Patrick Wilson and Matthew Fox actually be great, so that's an added bonus.
