10 Best 2017 Movie Trailers

1. Kong: Skull Island

Kong Skull Island Fire
Warner Bros.

Release Date: March 10, 2017

The Trailer: Not many trailers can deliver mind-blowing thrills, strong character drama and comedy all in one go, but Kong: Skull Island's second full-length trailer managed it.

Not only are we introduced to a whole host of giant-sized beasts, including spiders, but we get a real sense of the struggle our characters are going through and hints of an underlying plot involving John Goodman's character manipulating the group to get what he wants.

There was a fear that the marketing would attempt to 'hide' Kong, and save his reveal for the movie, but nope; we see him wrecking everything in sight, beating his chest and walking through fire. Epic stuff.

The Movie: Peter Jackson's King Kong was fine, but it took far too long to get to the monster action - and according to Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, that won't be the case here, which should result in a much more satisfying experience.

It's a blockbuster movie of the biggest kind, but the inclusion of strong character actors like John Goodman and Samuel L. Jackson means that it won't forget the human side of things either, and hopefully Kong: Skull Island will have smarts as well as spectacle.

He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
