8. Mi-Do Is Dae-Su's Daughter - Oldboy
Park Chan-wook's masterful thriller Oldboy centers around Dae-su (Choi Min-sik), a man who is kidnapped and kept prisoner inside a room for 15 years before being released.
Dae-su eventually identifies his captor as Woo-jin (Yoo Ji-tae), a former classmate who Dae-su caught committing incest with his sister.
Dae-su told a friend about this, and after word spread throughout the school, Woo-jin's sister killed herself.
But the kicker comes during their final confrontation, when Woo-jin gives Dae-su a photo album, revealing that his young love interest throughout the film, Mi-do (Kang Hye-jung), is in fact his own daughter.
Basically, Woo-jin used hypnosis to make Dae-su and Mi-do fall in love, ensuring he would feel the same anguished incest that Woo-jin himself did years earlier.
To rub salt in the wound, Woo-jin then sets up a speaker to loudly broadcast an audio recording of Dae-su having sex with his daughter, ensuring his entire reality has basically been flipped on its head in the most viscerally nauseating fashion possible.
This news ultimately proves so traumatic that Dae-su attempts to have the information wiped from his mind via hypnosis, though the ending leaves it ambiguous as to whether or not it's succeeded.
