10 Best 90s Teen Horror Movies You Need To Watch

1. Disturbing Behavior

Urban Legend
Metro Goldwyn Mayer

If The Faculty is a 90s high school take on Invasion of the Bodysnatchers, then Disturbing Behavior is its Stepford Wives. Stepford teenagers, if you will. This 1998 sci-fi film isn't quite as well-known or liked as The Faculty, but it's still one of the defining works of nineties teenage horror.

This time, it's the kids who aren't alright, subjected to a sinister mind-control experiment by their school and parents. Steve (a slightly-too-old James Marsden), Gavin (a grungy Nick Stahl), U.V (Chad Donella) and Rachel (Katie Holmes) are the teens of the piece, attempting to keep their independence under a system which would quite literally brainwash and lobotomize them. The irony is not lost on us either, of an ex-wife of Tom Cruise starring in a film about a dangerous mind-control cult.

Edited to pieces by the studio, Disturbing Behavior is not the film director David Nutter intended it to be - it's disappointingly lacking in bite - but its intent shines through, capturing the spirit of 90s high school and teen rebellion.
