10 Best Action Movies Of The Last Decade

6. Mission: Impossible - Fallout

Considering the first movie from Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible franchise began in 1996, it would make complete sense that the franchise might be on its last legs by the sixth instalment. However, Cruise and co. have managed to avoid this by constantly improving each sequel.

The latest one in the series, Mission: Impossible - Fallout, is quite clearly the best of the bunch. Directed by regular Tom Cruise collaborator, Christopher McQuarrie, Fallout does a great job of combining the old elements that made fans love the franchise so much, but adds in a few new aspects that make the movie feel fresh and exciting still.

Cruise's portrayal of Ethan Hunt is iconic at this point and it's difficult to imagine anyone else playing him. He really seems to inhabit the character and the fun he has with him is evident every time he's on the screen. However, the addition of Henry Cavill was a surprising, yet very successful move. Cavill always came across as a shoe-in for James Bond, but this movie proves that he's got the capacity to play a pretty dastardly and savage villain too.
