With the surprising success that followed the release of the first John Wick, it became inevitable that sequels to the much-loved action epic would come out relatively soon. It could've been extremely easy for them to completely screw up this potentially massive franchise, but with the main team behind the first one back together, they managed to successfully build upon the first one.
Keanu Reeves is once again fantastic as the stoic, yet extremely dangerous Wick, battling the bad guys with more heavy artillery than a small army could ever dream of. A bigger budget means better action sequences and Reeves manages to flourish in every single one of them.
If you thought he killed people in creative ways during the first movie, you'll be more than impressed with some of the stuff he manages to pull off here. Forget the massive guns and fancy hand-to-hand combat skills, He kills someone with a pencil. That's right, a PENCIL!
Although no-one is watching John Wick for its captivating storyline, the writer of the movie, Derek Kolstad, does a brilliant job of expanding on the world that Wick inhabits. This gives the audience not only the perfect break from the action, it also helps separate it from all the other mindless action flicks out there.
