From the moment the first trailer dropped for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse back in December 2017, audiences knew they were in for something special.
The film stands out immediatley given its unique art style. The visuals have a distinctly comic-book feel about them, and the sequences set at night are outstanding.
As well as the terrific art direction, the concept behind the story is something that has never been seen on screen before. Whilst Miles Morales is the main focus, he is joined by a number of different versions of Spider-Man, and the chemistry between this gang of misfits is always entertaining. Indeed, the film is surprisingly funny throughout.
Given how daring the premise of the film is, it’s remarkable that it turned out to be practically perfect. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse more than deserved its high level of critical praise and its Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
