10 Best Animated Movies Of The 2010s (That Aren't Disney Or Pixar)

3. The Garden Of Words

You could make a very strong and competent argument that The Garden of Words is the most visually beautiful animated film of all time and you€™d be hard pressed to find anyone to disagree with you. Makoto Shinkai is the man to fill the void that will be left be Miyazaki although he is probably sick to death of hearing that. While it may only be 45 minutes long, The Garden of Words is painful, tender and filled with a romance full of subtlety and loneliness. It follows the story of Takao, a 15 year old student with a passion for designing and creating shoes, and Yukari, a 27 year old English teacher who is struggling to find her place in the world as they bond on rainy days in the park. It€™s a touching movie, filled with the perfect balance of emotion and ennui. The Garden of Words is probably Shinkai€™s best work to date eclipsing the terrific Children Who Chase Lost Voices and while many prefer the original Japanese version, you still can€™t go wrong with the English dub. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0RDXeJ8xc0
