10 Best Animated Movies Of The 2010s (That Aren't Disney Or Pixar)

4. Song Of The Sea

The city invading the countryside is apparently becoming a recurring motif for modern animated films and Song of the Sea perhaps portrays this idea the most beautifully. Based on the Celtic legends of the Selkies, Song of the Sea weaves ancient folk fables and myths seamlessly with heart-warming Irish magic in a hand drawn masterpiece. It€™s a story that has the feel of one that has been passed down through the generations by word of mouth and only now has anyone thought to put it to paper. It€™s a tale about brothers and sisters, about the world of magic and about the difficult journeys everyone must take at some point in their life. It is a film with a dark subject matter for the most parts, but it€™s a rugged, bleak beauty reflected in the landscape of the nation it presents. If you€™ve ever played Child of Light then you€™ll get glimpses of a similar feel and tone. Parallels will be obviously be made to The Secret of Kells but Song of the Sea is a stand-alone classic. It€™s a magical movie, in every sense of the word. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Jxc7WkC674
