Thor, Gamora, and Doctor Strange. Outside of Infinity War and Endgame, a team up like this would surely never happen... except it kinda did throughout the rebooted Star Trek trilogy.

J. J. Abrams' 2009 reboot of the Star Trek franchise, launched the series into a completely new direction, by which I mean an entirely alternate timeline. In this separate continuity of events, the movies were then free from the constraints of the pre-established lore and could play fast and loose with things as they saw fit.

With that in mind, George Kirk, father of James T. Kirk, did not live a long a happy life alongside his family, getting to watch his son enrol into Starfleet and become captain of the famous Enterprise. Instead, George Kirk, played by a fresh-faced Chris Hemsworth, went down with his ship on the day of his son's birth, sending James T. on a wildly different path to that of the classic continuity.

Zoe Saldana, before donning the green skin of Gamora, played Lieutenant Uhura, an important member of the crew whose mysterious first name - something that was never revealed in the origial tv series - is something of a running joke throughout the film.

And Benedict Cumberbatch was cast in the film's 2013 sequel Into Darkness as infamous Star Trek villain, Khan. Due to the revised timeline, Khan's motivation and plans differ slightly from his tv counterpart but was still heralded as one of the franchises best antagonists.

All this timeline malarkey feels strangely like the work of Doctor Strange and the Time Stone...
