10 Best B-Movie Horrors From The '80s
5. Class Of Nuke 'Em High (1986)
If you wanted a good - or bad - B-horror movie in the 1980s, Troma Entertainment had you covered. From slashers to zombies to "dark" superhero tales, the company hit all bases.
1986's Class of Nuke 'Em High is arguably Troma at their schlockiest B-Movie best. This whacky ride tells of the students at Tromaville High as their school's water supply and secret weed patch is contaminated from a nearby power plant.
You can be forgiven if you think that description doesn't sound very "whacky," but I assure you, Nuke 'Em High truly has to be seen to be believed. The film is so on the nose that it's incredibly difficult to pinpoint if it's a comedy or an intentional parody... Or just a really bad horror movie.
So many elements are thrown into this nuclear melting pot that the viewer just has to go with the flow. As students become toxic zombies, gang warfare tears the school apart and a homicidal creature born of nuclear waste stalks the halls... it's hard to keep up.
Of course, this being a film from Troma Entertainment, bad performances are a given. However, some horrific dubbing provides hilarity as characters appear more over-the-top than perhaps they were originally meant to be.
Class of Nuke 'Em High is... certainly interesting, never dull and has an annoyingly catchy theme song.
