10 Best B-Movie Horrors From The '80s
6. Blood Rage (1983)
Blood Rage details the lives of twins Terry and Todd. Todd is framed by his homicidal brother for a brutal killing and subsequently committed, but as an adult escapes confinement to stop his sibling for good.
Originally released in 1983 as Blood Rage, this picture's widest audience was found on home video in 1987 under the title Nightmare at Shadow Woods. Having never received a DVD release, a quality print of the movie was considered lost and it became somewhat of a cult-favorite.
As a slasher movie, Blood Rage does the only thing it can to stand out among its competitors: it tries to out-gore them all... and it succeeds. This incredibly cheesy flick is at times overwhelming with the sheer amount of blood being spilled. The campy acting and big hair that surround it makes the brutality rather unexpected as well.
While the acting is questionable across the board, it's former sitcom star Louise Lasser who comes out the weirdest, portraying a frayed mother with too much on her plate. Her performance elicits more laughs than sympathy as she overacts every syllable, becoming one of the best reasons to see the film.
In a market full of similar holiday-themed slashers, Blood Rage used shock-value to stand out, and ultimately succeeded, becoming a cult classic.
