6. The Dirty Dozen
You can't get much more bad-ass than the Dirty Dozen - a rag-tag group of soldiers cobbled together to take on a major assassination mission that effectively amounts to a suicide mission - because they're a group of convicted murderers. Yes, defining criminal as bad-ass is a little bit dangerous, but the outfit's credentials can't be doubted when you see their actions during the mission. Sometimes wrongly criticised for being too much of a "fun" caper, The Dirty Dozen has some hard-hitting moments, and it's absolutely full of Hollywood bad-asses, including the grand-daddy of them all Lee Marvin, Jim Brown and Charles Bronson, as well as turns from the wonderful John Cassavetes, Donald Sutherland and a skin-crawling performance from Telly Savalas.
