10 Best Buddy Cop Movies Of All Time

4. Rush Hour

Rush Hour
New Line Cinema

Brett Ratner’s Rush Hour took the traditional good cop/poor cop routine and blended it with some comedy and language barriers to create an iconic film starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. Tucker plays a slightly dirty LA cop and Chan is a Hong Kong officer specifically requested to rescue the Chinese Consul’s kidnapped child.

Unlike most buddy cop movies, Rush Hour blended equal amounts of cop work and humour to keep the film funny and thrilling at the same time. A helpful coincidence is that Chan was reportedly learning English as he was doing the film. Those times when he is struggling to keep up with Tucker's lines? Not entirely fake.

With Chan’s unique stunt style and acrobatic abilities mixed pitted against Tucker and his trademark humour, Rush Hour not only proved to be a box office success but spawned two sequels and a tv show.
