10 Best Character Arcs In The MCU (So Far)
3. Nebula
Though both Yondu and Rocket both receive solid development over the Guardians films (and the later Avengers, in Rocket's case), they don't quite hold a candle to the development Nebula (Karen Gillan) gets.
First appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy, Nebula was introduced as the daughter of Thanos, constantly looking for acceptance from her tyrannical father. Seemingly cruel and violent, it wasn't until the sequel that her motives and true personality came into focus, giving fans a glimpse at someone who is not an evil-and-proud villain, but a broken woman trying to please her father and gain respect from her sister.
By Infinity War, any loyalty she had to Thanos is gone, as he has her tortured and kills Gamora to retrieve the Soul Stone. In Endgame, far removed from where she began her journey, it is revealed she has become an Avenger after the Snap, serving with the team for five years before taking part in the final battle against Thanos and his army.
Her arc is best shown in the film's climax, where she kills her former self to save her sister and is later seen as an official member of the Guardians. With another film somewhere on the horizon, we're sure to get a lot more of her brilliance in future.
