10 Best Christmas Horror Movies
7. A Christmas Horror Story
This festive horror anthology features William Shatner as a radio DJ and effectual narrator for the four stories that the film consists of. In the annals of horror anthology movies, this one ranks middlingly, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, given that there are some truly great entries in that sub genre, such as Trick 'r Treat and Creepshow.
The four segments feature everything from a visit from Krampus to zombie elves, all woven together by Shatner's character DJ Dan.
It was given a very limited theatrical release in 2015 before coming out mainly on VOD. Its overall critical reception was mixed as critics praised its tone but criticised the unevenness of the overlapping segments.
The story is set in the town of Bailey Downs, where all four stories occur and overlap. While all four threads don't quite hit the mark, there is a lot of fun to be had with the film overall and the final two sections, which include a twisted family get-together and a grisly situation at the North Pole, make the first two worth sitting through.
