10 Best Comedy Movies Since The Year 2000

5. Old School

2003's Old School was the film that threw the likes of Ferrell and Vince Vaughn into the comedy mainstream, and paved the way for future classics like Anchorman, Wedding Crashers and many more. This is right up there with the very best comedies of the last 14 years. The movie centers around Mitch Martin, a 30-year-old lawyer who has just split up with his girlfriend (Juliette Lewis) having caught her hilariously taking part in an orgy. He moves into a house near a university campus, with the help of his long-time friends Frank (Ferrell) and Bernard (Vaughn), and, after throwing a big party, Mitch suddenly becomes a big name around campus, despite not actually being a student there. The film eventually sees Mitch and his buddies having to form a fraternity and pass various academic courses, in order for him to still live there. Mayhem ensues. Wilson may be the main part, but Ferrell steals the show. Frank the Tank remains arguably his second funniest ever role, and whether it be the late-night streaking, the tranquillized dart to the neck or numerous other moments of brilliance, he is the most humorous part of the film. Vaughn is also terrific, and Phillips' script is absolutely top-notch. It doesn't get the acclaim that some of the other "Frat Pack" movies do, but it's a real gem.
