10 Best Comic Storylines Featuring The Birds Of Prey Characters

3. Mad Love

Birds Of Prey Comics
DC Comics/Bruce Timm

Harley was bound to feature at some point, wasn’t she? Mad Love is the perfect example too, given her original creators for The Animated Series, Paul Dini and Bruce Timm, are both involved here as well.

Much has been made of Margot Robbie’s dogtag necklace reading ‘Bruce’, with many interpreting it as a link to the Dark Knight himself, Bruce Wayne. However, given the fact Batman is not going to feature in the movie and there’s been no set up that she’s aware of his identity, it’s much more likely a nod towards Timm’s hand in creating this iconic character.

She stole the show in Suicide Squad and has strutted her way into the lead role in a team up movie of a team she’s not even a part of. As one of DC’s most popular characters, she’s had a host of great arcs, both solo and with other legendary characters, but Mad Love really has that vintage charm.

It features Harley trying to earn Mister J’s love back by killing Batman, and after winning the Eisner Award for Best Single Story in 1994, it was adapted into an Animated Series episode. Not to be missed if you’re looking for some classic Harley.
