4. Batman: Shadow Of The Bat - The Last Arkham
The Last Arkham is another story starring the villainous Zsasz, opening with the old Arkham Asylum being torn down so a new, more secure prison can be put up in its place.
What follows is a fascinating use of the prison. Batman discovers a series of murders linked to Zsasz, but Zsasz has been in Arkham when the victims were actually killed.
In order to investigate further, Commissioner Gordon helps Batman by getting him falsely imprisoned in Arkham for insanity, where new chief warden Jeremiah Arkham subjects him to the same psychological torture the other inmates suffer through.
In truth, the majority of the narrative is focussed on Bruce himself rather than Zsasz. However, unless there’s a showy antagonist like the Joker, that’s often how it goes for the Gotham villains, and we still get to see how menacing Zsasz can be.
In all honesty he’ll likely play second fiddle to Black Mask in the movie too, so this is just rehearsal.
