10 Best Coming Of Age Horror Movies
1. Let The Right One In
A deep-dive into weird childhood romance and friendship at its finest, Let The Right One In is the story of a young, timid boy named Oskar and his budding relationship with vampire Eli. They have something in common: the desire to kill. Whilst Oskar wishes he could kill (really wanting to give his bullies a violent end), Eli needs to kill to survive.
You can’t always put your trust in a film based on how critically acclaimed it is, but in this case you can. Over the years it has become clear that horror is a genre a lot of awards bodies and critics aren’t interested in. So when a film manages to sweep its way through the critics and come out the other side positively glowing, it’s often worth a look into.
Let The Right One In is not only a fantastic coming of age drama but a horror that helped inject life back into the vampire subgenre, building a beast who was in equal parts complex, interesting and terrifying. It’s touted by some as one of the best horrors of the twenty-first century, and personally I think it totally deserves that title.
