4. Bud & Various Others - Dark Harvest

Considering its release was pushed back by two years due to various delays, many had extremely low expectations when David Slade's Dark Harvest adaptation limped out to a digital release with minimal fanfare last October. In reality, the film, while flawed, is actually pretty decent, features some hugely impressive set pieces, and has a genuinely creepy, bloodthirsty beast at its core.

That beast is Sawtooth Jack, a supernatural figure that awakens every Halloween for an event known as the Run. For this, the boys of this small town are locked in their rooms and starved for three days, before being let out once Sawtooth has risen. The aim here is to stop this creature from reaching the local church before midnight, with the prize being $25,000 and a fancy new car for anyone who manages to kill Jack.

When Sawtooth Jack appears for his latest murder spree, he does so in an extremely impactful way, slicing 'n' dicing his way through a bunch of people. Unfortunately for young Bud, he finds himself one of these victims, as Jack tracks him down to a bunker that's housing a group of boys. With this group refusing to let Bud in, Jack grabs Bud's head and takes a moment before tearing his head in half.

Not just did Bud realise he was about to be killed, but so too did the boys hiding in the bunker who witnessed the entire thing. And with that, Sawtooth Jack likewise makes short work of them as well.
