10 Best ‘Dead And I Know It’ Moments In Zombie Movie History

7. Andy - Cargo

Day Of The Dead
Netflix

In the scale of the journey, father and husband Andy realises quite early on that's he's going to die. He is also one of the rare characters who realises they are going to die a really long time before death finally embraces him - lucky him!

After veering off the road, Andy sees that the resulting crash has mortally injured his wife. She has a tree branch stuck through her stomach, and we're not talking a twig here; I mean almost a full log. She soon enough goes rabid and, as Andy reaches into the back to protect their baby, his wife takes a nice big chomp on his meaty upper arm. Oh dear.

Andy manages to get the baby out of the car, utter some reassuring words and promise to be back in a second, before going and sitting against a car and letting out a heart-wrenching scream. In this moment, he expresses all his anger and sadness and frustration at the situation and the knowledge that at some point he is going to suffer the same deathly fate as his wife. And then who will take care of the baby?

As a parent it must be one of the worst things to not know how your baby will be kept safe after you're gone - and surely that anguish is multiplied tenfold in a zombie apocalypse! No wonder his moment is so horrible, then.
