10 Best Documentary Films To Watch On Disney+

1. Free Solo

Free Solo is, without a doubt, one of the most nail biting experiences that a viewer will go through. Bear in mind, this is all recorded footage. Alex Honnold actually climbed El Capitan.

It is a masterclass in tension, but also of depicting the nature of the human spirit. It is inspiring in a way that only the best biopics really are, pushing the viewer to engage with this historic achievement.

The film also doesn't shy away from the seriousness of the attempt. One critics review stated that the fear they had was, due to the triumph of the film, it might inspire more people to attempt this. It is a feat that was conquered by a man who had trained for years. It was not something to be taken lightly.

The footage taken includes interviews with Honnold and his family, all of whom sharing in the excitement of the attempt while also acknowledging the fear that they had. One wrong move and the glorious high definition footage of Honnold would have included a shot of him plummeting to his death.

As a film, it is a success of a project. The imagery is beautiful, while Marco Beltrami's score is both epic and has the ability to set your teeth on edge. The film won an Academy Award for best documentary.

The film must be seen to be believed. This is an experience one is not likely to forget in a hurry.
