10 Best Dragons In Film & TV
8. Falkor - The Neverending Story
Coming during the puppet movie boom of the 80s (what a weird time that was), Falkor is the distinctive fluffy white dragon from The Neverending Story. A Luck Dragon, Falkor is bright and optimistic, carrying the movie’s whimsical tone which saw it become a cult classic.
Falkor is exceedingly wise, and his gentle ways form a key part of The Neverending Story’s message. Though the film does have some rip roaring action sequences, Falkor generally preaches peace and understanding. This personality coupled with his deep, large black eyes and thick fur make him seem more like a grand old mage than they do a traditional dragon.
A lot of the dragons here have fairly ‘cool’ designs, something which doesn’t particularly apply to Falkor. However, he’s a much more developed character than most here, and plays a crucial role in his movie.
Unfortunately, sequels to The Neverending Story (which actually ended after an hour and forty minutes) didn’t quite live up the original. Falkor’s design especially was criticised for how dopey and goofy it looked, but the first movie is enough to keep him in the top ten.
