10 Best Elevator Scenes In Horror Movie History
7. From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money (1999)
This sequel to the much better Tarantino original features Saved by the Bell’s Tiffani Thiessen and horror legend Bruce Campbell as barristers Pam and Barry. The opening scene sees the lawyers getting in an elevator and discussing the client they are representing, who they believe to be a guilty serial killer. While other scenes on this list utilise slow-building tension, this one definitely goes for the less subtle approach!
The elevator jerks to a sudden halt and the lights flicker off. Barry decides to investigate by looking through the ceiling hatch and the mangled and bloody body of a maintenance worker falls through on top of him. For some reason this encourages him to look for a way out via the hatch.
He climbs up with the maintenance worker's torch and shines it up through the shaft just in time to see a swarm of bats descending on him, ripping him to shreds before carrying on down to also attack a screaming Pam.
The bats chew through the elevator ropes until they break, and it comes crashing to the floor where the doors open and the bats fly out, revealing both Pam and Barry dead on the floor.
The twist to this gruesome scene with two relatively well-known actors, is that it is revealed to be a television show being watched by bank robber protagonist Buck, foreshadowing the vampire theme to come in the movie.
