10 Best Erotic Thrillers Ever

1995's Showgirls and Striptease might have sounded the death knell of the erotic thriller boom, but this 1998 sleazefest par excellence showed there was life in the old genre yet.

Notorious for its almost innumerable twists and turns, director John McNaughton's Wild Things is a steamy, Miami-set noir which casts Matt Dillon as high school guidance counsellor accused of rape by two students: ultra-rich head cheerleader Denise Richards, and trailer trash Goth girl Neve Campbell.

Of course - to give away the first big twist (as if it wasn't already apparent from the still above) - it turns out the three of them already know one another, in the Biblical sense, and are playing a high stakes con. Yet there's more to it all than meets the eye.

Wild Things caused a major sensation on release for being one of the first mainstream films to showcase a threesome, as well as a one-on-one love scene with Campbell and Richards, neither of whom had taken on such raunchy roles beforehand.

Still, it's not all about the girl-on-girl action, as Wild Things also boasts a full frontal nude scene from Kevin Bacon, which also raised a few eyebrows.

Beyond all this, though, Wild Things is a wonderfully entertaining thriller with a thick streak of black comedy and a satirical edge.
